Fighting Computer Espionage
Most of the time, spying and covert operations are used in war games and tense regions of the middle east. But now, you will find spying and covert ops, all but undetected, inside your laptop and home computers from corrupt companies and websites you encounter on the web.
Are you noticing a strange slow-down of your computer and you don't know why? Have you but getting unsolicited pop-ups that seem to appear whether surfing the web or not? And these unwanted pop-ups and slowing of your computer continue happening even after you've checked your computer and are using a freshly updated anti-virus program.
Well, if you're not using the right spyware program, you'll find that you cannot detect the "real" problem with your computer: spyware or adware.
Spyware and adware are unwanted programs that are unknowingly downloaded with free wallpapers, games, and yes, even with your free email. I bet the old saying "if it seem to be good to be true" is coming to mind about right now. Well big companies pay freeware and shareware makers to add small tracking software to there "freebies" and prey on unsuspecting surfers who might download one of these "be good to be true" programs. Adware can enable unwanted pop-ups and ads to show up on your screen and in the worst cases, adware may cause pop-ups as soon as you turn on your computer!
But Spyware is usually a little more sneeky and is usually not noticed until you run some quallity anti spyware software. Spyware, as the name implies, is used to spy on you and your surfing/shopping habits. In the more mild instances, the spyware is only used to track your browsing and shopping habits so it (the spyware) can report your habits and preferences to build a marketing profile on you. This is to say, as you are surfing, you are being watched and your basic right to privacy is being violated.
In the worst cases, some spyware also known as as malware, can be used with criminal intent and be programed to steal your passwords and other valuable information such as your Credit Card numbers.
For instance, malware will record of your keystrokes and your credit card numbers and other personal information that will be used to steal your identity. It's been said that 90% of computers are currently infected with some type of spyware so to make sure that you don't become part of that majority, you need run an adware and spyware/malware cleaner to detect and remove unwanted security and privacy risks from your computer.
There's a lot of good and reliable adware and spyware scanners available to clean these unwanted programs from your computer. But some adware and spyware programs have been bundled with their parent programs so that cleaning them from your computer will also disable the programs they infect. This is sometimes a necessary evil to rid your computer system of unwanted adware and spyware programs. You should choose an adware and spyware scanner that will also work proactively by preventing future installs of the adware/spyware.
Adware and spyware scanners/cleaners are like an antivirus program but it will target adware and spyware instead. Considering all the trouble you'll go through to remove the adware and spyware from your computer, the saying about an ounce of prevention is worth more than a pound of cure applies in this situation. Make sure you install a reliable and secure spyware cleaner on your computer to remove existing spyware and adware as well as preventing future infections.
